Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre has scored perfect marks from patients in the latest figures from the Friends and Family Test.
All providers of health care are required to carry out the Family and Friends Test as part of the NHS’ commitment to improving the patient experience. The results of the test rest on the level to which a patient would recommend a health care facility to their nearest and dearest
Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre achieved remarkable 100% scores from patients in the areas of ophthalmology, endoscopy and orthopaedics. The hospital scored highly in other areas too, with 98.9% for its day ward and 98.6% for its in-patient ward.
In all, 782 patients completed the Friends and Family Test during March.
The results follow an outstanding performance by the Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre in the Patient Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) measure. Here, the hospital outperformed the national average against all PLACE criteria.
The hospital scored 100% for cleanliness, 95.29% for food, 97.14% for privacy, dignity and wellbeing, 99.69% for condition, appearance and maintenance, 93.9% for dementia provision and 97.14% for disabled provision.
Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre is well known for the quality of its patient experience. Comments from patients posted on Facebook include: “wonderful treatment and care at Peninsula”; “I have never met more wonderful, caring hospital staff than those at Peninsula”; “everything about it was lovely the staff and cleanliness was second to none I would not hesitate to go there again”, and; “the place was spotless and the care was fantastic.”

Peninsula NHS Treatment Centre welcomed its first NHS patients in April 2005. Tens of thousands of patients have received top quality care at the hospital for orthopaedic surgery (minor and major), hernia repair and gall bladder removal, cataract treatment, endoscopy and diagnostic imaging (such as X-rays).
The hospital was the first of its kind to achieve an overall ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission and recently achieved Joint Advisory Group accreditation for its endoscopy services at the first attempt.
