JAG accredited endoscopy in Plymouth

To give you faster access to endoscopic examinations, we have invested in a purpose-designed endoscopy facility as part of our commitment to providing you with “Outstanding” care.

Our new endoscopy service operates to the highest standards, and features innovations such as the trans-nasal endoscopy. In this, an ultra-thin endoscope is passed through the patient’s nose to investigate the stomach. Alongside the comfort of a smaller insertion, patients do not need to be sedated and can eat, drink and drive immediately after the examination.

As well as receiving an overall “Outstanding” rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), our endoscopy service has achieved the coveted Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation.


What is the JAG accreditation?

The Joint Advisory Group (JAG) accreditation demonstrates our commitment to ensuring the quality and safety of our services and their compliance with the national JAG standards.


Our endoscopy procedures:

  • Colonoscopy – an endoscope (a very thin, long camera) examines the large bowel and parts of the small bowel.
  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy – an examination of the large intestine where a flexible endoscope is passed investigates the furthest part of the colon.
  • Gastroscopy – an endoscope is passed through the mouth and throat to investigate the stomach.
